Sofa Runda Samsas - Year 1966
Samsas is regarded as the most typical item of Malmsten's furniture. The Samsas model is a further development of the original "Konsert" model, which Carl Malmsten designed for the Stockholm Concert Hall in 1923.
In designing his furniture, Carl Malmsten took inspiration from Swedish nature and culture. He gave his furniture names that aroused associations. The name Samsas is a Swedish word for "getting on well together". O.H. Sjögren has succeeded witth getting along well with this item of furniture for over 50 years.
In 1992 a further variant of the Samsas series was put into production - Runda Samsas ("Round Harmony") - which was once designed for a postmaster in Bromma to fit the bay window in the latter's newly constructed villa.
